In this modern world with so many incredible technologies swirling around I think we should address what has made our society change the most. However what is it? Is it our numerous forms of transportation, or perhaps pace flight? Well I believe it is the internet.
We use it everyday for various reasons. Wether it be looking up information for an essay, sharing our thoughts, or posting a joke; we use it constantly. nothing has changed our society more. we can effortlessly talk to people across the world and find information in an instant. It is a constant thing never leaving us and we don't really leave it either. Truly it is the most significant technology we have made.

James Cameron's film Avatar is fairly old news by this point but I'm still going to put my thoughts out there. They are simply this. James cameron is overrated and this film exemplifies that. while the effects are good and the designs are interesting to look at the writing falls about as short as it can. while it may have kept a younger me entertained it is one of the worst and most heavy handed environmentalist films out there(not to mention being to lazy to come up with an interesting culture and essentially making space Native Americans). the humans in the film are shown to be entirely evil with little redeeming qualities because nuanced ideas are too complex and interesting. children's books handle these concepts better and I've seen advertising campaigns more enjoyable.
furthermore the film is so uninteresting you'll feel like you've been sitting for twelve hours by the time it ends. the fact that this is currently the highest grossing film and the second one is another James Cameron film(Titanic, although it is good from what I hear) is slightly disappointing and disheartening. perhaps these concepts would be better explored by someone else. that is all for today auf wiedersehen. |
